SoftwareMill's second anniversary

For SoftwareMill, the last year was rich in achievements:

• we launched our original online document management system, www.CIRCULAR.pl.
• we created our original system for monitoring servers www.JBison.com
• we organised the first international conference on agile in Warsaw www.AgileByExample.com
• we took a significant part in organising a Java conference, Confitura www.Confitura.pl
• we strengthened cooperation with our current clients in Africa and Australia, expanding our Team to include further highly-qualified programmers
• we provided certified trainings on JBoss technologies
• we were present at IT industry fairs and conferences

There is much to celebrate, so SoftwareMill’s second anniversary event was quite intense, just like the previous year’s activity. A meeting of the whole Team (without our CEO, who is coordinating our African projects on-site) started early in the morning with a… lavish breakfast.

Our appetites satisfied, we set to work in undistributed teams: a new experience for us, as we usually work from distributed locations. So this time our traditional stand-up meeting, usually held via Skype or Google+, was face-to face. You could feel that participants were suffering from a bit of stage fright, but after all, we have faced harder challenges ;)

At SoftwareMill we are very keen on raising our qualifications, so in addition to participating in conferences, we share knowledge within the Team. Right after lunch, our employees gave some presentations:

• Kinga summarised a testers’ conference, Testwarez
• Łukasz shared his experience with using RESTEasy
• Adam told us more about ElasticMQ

The rest of the SoftwareMill 2nd anniversary celebrations were definitely more entertainment-oriented. We went gokarting, where after a tough battle the winners of this year’s race triumphed, and afterwards we set off to one of Warsaw’s restaurants to top up the calories burned in the chase.

What will the third year of SoftwareMill operations be like? We all agree it will be just as intensive. Among plans for the coming year we should mention:

• starting cooperation with new clients (2 contracts have already been signed with clients from Australia and the USA)
• expanding the Team to include more highly-qualified specialists
• intensifying marketing activities for the www.CIRCULAR.pl online document management system and the www.JBison.com server monitoring system
• organising the second edition of Poland’s first international conference on agile www.AgileByExample.com
• participation in the Java users’ community, including active involvement in the next edition of Confitura www.Confitura.pl
• introduction of another original system on the market, this time for communication
• raising our skills (we’ve already been to the Devoxx 2011 conference in Belgium)
